Antique maps for islands and island groups in the Pacific Ocean. Many of these maps are sea charts from French mapmakers in the late 18th century, and represent information gathered only months earlier by western explorers such as the British Capt. James Cook. Other areas had been known to and mapped by westerners hundreds of years earlier.
