Formosa (Taiwan)

Formosa, located in the western Pacific Ocean off the coast of China, is the main island associated with Taiwan.

Although published after the preceding map, this map of Formosa is based on earlier maps. This includes a well-defined western coastline, but no real eastern coastline. The line on the right indicates eastern extent of control of the Chinese emperor, in the middle of the mountains.
